Banana Sleep Tea: giving the whole family a good night sleep
Posted by Kelly Northey on 26th Sep 2016
Now, we have tried just about every single sleep concoction there is out there, but in all our extensive research in the aid of a good night sleep for both kids AND adults, we'd NEVER heard of boiling bananas before!
But, it actually makes a lot of sense because bananas, especially the peels, are packed with magnesium and potassium.
It's quite common knowledge that magnesium is reputed to help prevent sleep disturbances, but did you know that both magnesium and potassium work
together to help relax muscles therefore giving your body a great chance to completely relax and aid sleep.
However, it's important to remember when making this Banana Tea that it's vital to use 100% organic bananas as it will boil them peel and all, so they must be chemical-free.
Here in Australia organic bananas are quite easy to source in most supermarkets or fruit and vegetable shops.
The ones we purchase have a red wax tip so they're easy to identify!
Call me jaded but I really was before trying this recipe, because we have quite literally tried every single sleep concoction there is, but we were surprised by how much this helped our son and it's fast become part of our bedtime ritual for us all - he even ASKS for his 'special bedtime banana tea' and associates it with winding down for bedtime!
Here's our easy to make at the end of a long day version, taking less than 10 minutes.
